Getting and Staying Fit
27 January 2009
Late January is about the time of year when many folks are sliding back into their same old physical routines. The fact is, any time of the year is a good time to establish a new fitness routine. Forget the time-honored New Year’s Resolutions – NOW is a as good a time as any to take stock of where you are and where you want to be with the quality ofyour health and the shape of your body.
So simply start a new fitness routine when YOU want to! Since you decided to read this piece, chances are you are interested in making another effort to get in shape. A good start would be to develop a fitness plan. A plan helps you put your fitness routine into shape, and helps you track your progress against the plan. Write your plan for the next month or so, and schedule your activities for the next 30 days.
Planning is an excellent way to get your mind set on your goals, while providing a convenient way to track progress. Now, in order to track your progress, you will need to keep your plan in a handy place, and log your actual exercise performance against what you planned to do.
Most folks are best advised to track their fitness routines as activities rather than as results. This is especially true if you have chosen exercise as the primary way to get where you want to be. So measure your performance by whether you are keeping your commitment to your plan. Your ultimate goals, whether it is more strength or weight loss, or any other result will naturally fall into place if you focus on your own performance.
