Outsourcing on the Rebound

9 June 2009

Outsourcing spending will be looking up and making a rebound to its pre-recession levels by the end of the year, according to an industry survey.

The 2009 edition of the Black Book of Outsourcing reported more than half of surveyed firms have forecasted that they will spend as much on technology outsource at the same level before making cutbacks. This waning threat to outsourcing growth is a welcome news indeed for the global outsourcing industry.

Meanwhile, a survey that rated outsourcers on performance and professionalism was published by Florida-based Brown & Wilson. The survey revealed positive feedback on such criteria among Indian outsourcing companies. HCL, Infosys Technologies Ltd. and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. were included in the top 10 outsourcers in terms of accountability, trust and transparency.

Almost 94% of the companies say they definitely consider India as an outsourcing destination, even after the $1 billion fraud scandal that broke at Satyam Computer Services, Ltd.

India is placed second only to the U.S. and ahead of other growing outsourcing markets such as the Philippines and Eastern Europe. The survey pointed out that track record in the outsourcing industry is crucial if companies were to start spending again on its services.
