Fewer Chalet Holidays Available this Winter Season Will Lead to Less Price Reductions

14 June 2009

Snowboarders can anticipate ski holidays to cost upwards of 17 percent more for ski holidays this coming winter as operators reduce the number of trips available.

High season trips will be particularly dear yet even at other weeks there will be hardly any heavily discounted snowboarding holidays.

Luxury ski chalet operators say that with catered chalet operators curtailing holidays by as much as 24 percent prices remain unlikely to be reduced.

Demand is already greater than the supply during February half-term which for the 2nd yr will fall on the one week for nearly all schools in Great Britain.

Price rises along with a reduction in the amount of vacations follows what was a particularly good winter for holiday makers with heavy snowfall all over Europe.

With the collapse of the pound versus the Euro annihilated profits and led to lots of smaller providers in debt.

The future looks brighter for skiers able to go on vacation in Jan and March, when prices will be up by around 13 per cent on the average, instead of 20 % for peak season weeks.

Airline businesses, chalets and ski resorts are starting to recognize that they have to offer operators reductions or deals. Wise skiers will pay for as many extras ” for example ski passes and equipment rental ” in pounds before they leave England.
